The traditional technology of making labels on a web press was a slow and expensive process. While others in the industry settled for that procedure, Henkel pursued research and development to find a faster, more efficient way. Henkel discovered a way to apply silicone adhesive on the web to produce low-cost labels and save printing costs for the customer. Henkel earned a Graphic Arts Technical Foundation award for this innovative procedure, which is now used by almost every nonprofit organization that provides address labels to its mailing list.
Temporary membership cards have become popular components in direct mail promotions. These 3” x 5" laminated cards were traditionally produced with PVC plastic, necessitating higher production costs while requiring a slower manufacturing process.
